Contemporary consumers demand devices that are sleek and compact; therefore, I package mechanical and electrical references within abstracted functional sculptures and implied kinetic drawings.

The purpose of my sculpture is to replicate an experience from a collective nostalgia. Each sculpture requires the participation of the viewer to fully represent my contemplation. The interaction between the viewer and the sculpture contextualizes humanity’s necessity within a machine’s existence.

The contour of my symmetrically patterned shapes is derived from to the physical traits of objects within a working machine. Shapes are arranged based on patent drawings and recreations of ancient technology, but without loyalty to actual mechanical function. For this reason, I describe the work as “implied kinetic” drafting.
